CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Police remind citizens to lock their unattended vehicles after a juvenile was arrested for stealing a truck on August 4, around 8 p.m.
A 28 year old man stopped at a gas station in the 600 block of Lafayette Road to purchase a pack of cigarettes. He left his Toyota 4Runner in the parking lot running and unattended.
The man looked outside to see his truck was being driven away and ran outside to intercept the vehicle. The driver then began to drive erratically and struck a pole on the property before speeding down Ryder Avenue.
Detective Steinlage arrived on scene, reviewed video footage and was able to identify the thief.
The suspect, only 15 years old, was located, taken into custody, charged with theft of a motor vehicle and transported to a juvenile detention facility.
The Toyota 4Runnder was located and recovered at the 2400 block of Whitfield Rd.
