CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – On Thursday November 24, Dr. Ernest DeWald and Dr. Ernest Edington of Clarksville Dental Center donated the candy received from the candy buy back event to Ms. Jean Balcum of Treat for Troops and presented a check in the amount of $60 to Ms. Lorri Kirkman of Ringgold Elementary.
Balcum is the widow of a veteran and began Treats for Troops in an effort to reach out primarily to single soldiers and to meet their basic needs in any way she can. The candy she received from the candy buy back will be given to soldiers as they board the plane to be deployed.
Kirkman received the money earned from the candy buy back for Ringgold Elementary School where she serves as assistant principal. She stated that money will go towards meeting needs of the faculty.
