CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It’s week 7 of the high school football season and there are 10 games on slate featuring area teams. The biggest of which might just be Clarksville High vs. Siegel with the Wildcats on a four-game winning streak. Can CHS keep winning?

CNOW Game of the Week: Siegel High Stars (2-4) @ #2 Clarksville High Wildcats (4-2)
Clarksville High is looking to replicate the eight-game winning streak it went on last season after starting 0-2, and it’ll once again have to go through a tough Siegel squad.
The Stars are better than their record suggests after playing a difficult schedule. After beating Rockvale on Friday, Siegel will keep this one close, but the Wildcats will come out on top.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Clarksville High 17 – Siegel 16
LaVergne Wolverines (0-6) @ #1 Kirkwood High Cobras (5-1)
Kirkwood picked up its best win of the season to this point on Friday with a 38-6 victory over Dickson County.
LaVergne has struggled throughout the season and now faces another tough matchup against the No. 1 team in the Montgomery County area. Expect the Cobras to win this one comfortably.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Kirkwood 42 – LaVergne 0.
Battle Creek Grizzlies (1-5) @ #3 Montgomery Central Indians (5-1)
Montgomery Central was surprised on the Hill last week, suffering its first loss of the season to Hickman County.
Battle Creek is battle-tested after already playing several talented opponents this fall. The Grizzlies should give the Indians a tough game, but Montgomery Central will bounce back.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Montgomery Central 28 – Battle Creek 20
#4 Kenwood Knights (3-3) @ Maplewood Panthers (2-4)
Kenwood’s explosive offense was on full display last week in a big win over Northwest. The Knights will need to clean up their penalties, though.
Maplewood is a tough team to figure out, but the Panthers have lost both of their matchups against common opponents, including a Week 2 loss to White House-Heritage, which Kenwood defeated.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Kenwood 24 – Maplewood 13
Cane Ridge Ravens (3-3) @ #5 Rossview High Hawks (2-4)
Both of these programs will likely be in the playoff mix out of region 5-6A, but this will still be an important game in the standings.
The Hawks beat Cane Ridge 27-6 last season, but the Ravens are a better team this year. This one could come down to a couple of plays late, and Rossview has played well at home.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Rossview 24 – Cane Ridge 21
#6 Northeast High Eagles (2-4) @ Henry County Patriots (2-4)
This will be the first opportunity for one of the area’s teams to go head-to-head with the Patriots. Henry County doesn’t have the record it typically would heading into Week 7.
The Eagles are coming off a tough loss to Mt. Juliet, while the Patriots just lost to 6A contender Brentwood. Henry County gets the edge, but the margin remains a major question.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Henry County 35 – Northeast 17
Creek Wood Red Hawks (2-4) @ #7 Northwest High Vikings (2-4)
Northwest High was simply outmatched last Friday against Kenwood. Some of the preseason depth concerns are starting to surface, contributing to a four-game losing streak.
Creek Wood is a better matchup for the Vikings, but I’m not sure it’ll be enough to get them back in the win column.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Creek Wood 21 – Northwest 12
#8 Fort Campbell Falcons (2-4) @ Trigg County Wildcats (1-5)
Fort Campbell has been pretty competitive this year, but the Falcons have let a couple of opportunities slip away.
Trigg County has struggled to find its footing, and Fort Campbell could present a difficult challenge for their team. I see this becoming a statement win and a massive region victory for the Falcons.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Fort Campbell 31 – Trigg County 21
McGavock Raiders (1-5) @ #9 West Creek Coyotes (0-6)
West Creek has a good chance to win their game this week. Like the Coyotes, McGavock has really struggled to find success this season, with its only win coming against a school that forfeited to Clarksville Academy earlier this season.
This may not be the Game of the Week, but it will be a must-see matchup anyway. Give me the Coyotes to finally grab their first win of the year.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: West Creek 14 – McGavock 3
Ezell-Harding Christian Eagles (4-2) @ Clarksville Academy Cougars (0-6)
Clarksville Academy has dominated the news cycle, and not because they are winning games. As of now, the Cougars are still scheduled to play the Eagles, but we’ll see if this one happens Friday. By force or by forfeit, the Eagles are expected to win their fifth game of the season.
