CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Camp Rainbow kids and volunteers have been busy this week celebrating the program’s 38th year at sites around Clarksville.

In years past, Camp Rainbow has been held at Brandon Springs Group Camp at Land Between the Lakes. In 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was not held at all because of concerns for the health of the children, all of whom have medical needs.

This year was what Camp Director Jereme Miner referred to as Plan B for the 25 children and close to 50 volunteers. Monday was pool day at the Clarksville Country Club, Tuesday was an outdoor carnival at Grace Community Church, and Wednesday was arcade games and an indoor softball game at The City Forum.

The campers, the name affectionally given to the children, enjoyed go-karts, bowling, laser tag and mini-golf. Each year, Beaver 100.3 FM hosts the Camp Rainbow Radiothon, and to show their support, Beaver 100.3 on-air personalities Fletch, Mandi and Monica spent time with the youngsters.

Clarksville Camp Rainbow is part of the Dream Factory, which was originally established to give seriously ill children the chance to have a special wish granted. Camp Rainbow is held for children that otherwise couldn’t go to a camp because of their medical condition.
