The Butterfly Moments recovery community housing will offer help for veterans with substance abuse and mental illness.
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – To celebrate the Fourth of July, Butterfly Moments Inc. held a ribbon cutting Sunday for their new recovery community housing for veterans at 2088 N. Ford St.
The small facility is for veterans with a history of substance abuse and mental illness, said Butterfly Moments founder Mary Laremore.
“We have five one-bedroom apartments for veterans. It’s affordable housing, it’s permanent housing; once they move in, they don’t ever have to move out,” Laremore said.

The apartments are fully furnished with a washer and dryer, and utilities are paid except for electricity, and they are currently looking for residents.
City Councilman Wallace Redd was on hand for the event.
“We are working with veterans who may not have a good rental history, the best credit, legal issues – those veterans that other landlords don’t want to touch,” Laremore said. There will be people who will come out and work with the veterans to help them with their recovery.
Butterfly Moments also operates a Women’s Recovery Center. Laremore said the apartments at the veteran’s home can be for men or women veterans, but the facility is not for families.
Laremore presented Bert Singletary of Singletary Construction with an award for his support. Laremore also dedicated a Giving Tree with a yellow ribbon to honor the memory of Glen Williams, a veteran Laremore worked closely with who lost his life while in recovery.
