Buford Roland Darnell, 91, of Clarksville, TN, passed from this life on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Sterling House.
He was born on April 16, 1923 in Montgomery County, TN to the late George Darnell and Mamie Darnell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Darnell; son, Mickey Darnell; and sister, Mildred Walker.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hilldale Church of Christ with Brother Steve Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the church.
Buford was retired from Life of Georgia. He was a member of Hilldale Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in WWII.
He is survived by two daughters, Jerri Halliday Forehand (Gene) and Cammy Rittenberry (Henry); daughter-in-law, Cheryl Darnell; five grandchildren, Eric Rittenberry, Kayla Rittenberry, Andrea Becker (Bert), Dana McGill (Kevin), and Chad Halliday; and four great grandchildren, Gracie Becker, Beau Becker, Hannah McGill, and Landon McGill.
Pallbearers will be Henry Rittenberry, Eric Rittenberry, Gene Forehand, Chad Halliday, Bert Becker, Kevin McGill, Clete Walker, and Greg Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Powell and Bobby Powell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarksville Christian School, 505 Highway 76, Clarksville, TN 37043 or St. Jude Chldren’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
