CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Jerry Buchanan, Montgomery County Emergency Management (EMA) Director and County Fire Chief, has announced he is retiring the post this year at the end of December. Buchanan spent over 20 years in service with with EMA, he became Deputy Director in 2002, Interim Director in 2012 and Director in 2013.

Buchanan talked about leaving his job with emergence management. “It’s been an enjoyable experience with Montgomery County and I still enjoy it. It’s been 20-and-a-half years with EMA so it’s time for me to step back and enjoy life a little bit,” said Buchanan.

Buchanan is also Chairman of the Montgomery County Local Emergency Planning CommitteeEven though he will be retiring from EMA and as chief of Montgomery County’s Volunteer Fire Service, Buchanan said he is remaining as a member of the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department.

There has been no announcement on who will replace Buchanan.
