CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville is one step closer to getting a Buc-ee’s Travel Center at Exit 1, with plans for the site showing a 120-pump gas station and a 77,000-square foot building.

Developers Kinley-Horn Associates have submitted site plans to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission. Sitting on nearly 47 acres of land, Buc-ee’s will operate out of a 76,739-square-foot building on the former site of O’Connor’s Irish Pub and the current home of Gary the Guardrail.

2023 Development plans for Buc-ee’s Travel Center.

Coming off of I-24 westbound, Buc-ee’s will sit to the right, on the corner of Trenton Road and Tylertown Road. Two entrances will be available from Tylertown, with another two on Copperhead Road, with future road developments.

The plans call for 650 parking spots, with 19 ADA spots, 11 for RVs/buses, another 19 for electric vehicle-charging stations, and one spot for ADA/electric vehicle charging.

Buc-ee’s Travel Center was founded in 1982 by Arch “Beaver” Aplin, who later expanded his business with partner Don Wasek. The Texas-based chain is known for its massive sales floor for travelers, with signature brisket and well-maintained spacious restrooms.

The future of Gary the Guardrail remains uncertain.

WaWa also planned

Another site plan up for review is for a WaWa convenience store. That is proposed on Fort Campbell Boulevard at Lady Marion Street.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Committee is meeting on these and other plans at their next meeting, Tuesday, June 27.
