CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) Bridgestone Metalpha U.S.A., Inc. (BMU) has announced Toru Tsnunakawa as their president and CEO, successor of Bruce Johnson who retired May 31, 2017.

Tsunakawa has been an employee of the Bridgestone group for over 33 years with numerous international and diverse assignments. His previous assignment was managing Director of the Bridgestone Steel Cord plant in China. Before that, he was working for Bridgestone Steel Cord plant in Thailand as managing Director and Saga plant in Japan that is a mother Steel cord plant in Bridgestone as general manager of production. He has been involved in Steel Cord manufacturing holding positions in engineering, technology, production and R&D (research & development). He was a leading engineer in charge of the plant construction and start-up of Bridgestone Metalpha 21 years ago.

Tsunakawa stated, “I will do my very best to help in the success of BMU through both business activities and social activities that contribute to the Clarksville community”.

BMU recently invested $75 million in its Clarksville operations to increase daily output by 10 percent, expanding the plant’s size by more than 123,077 square feet and creating new jobs. Expansion began in 2012 and the plant is on track to reach full capacity early in 2020.
