CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The recent Brews for the Brave event in Clarksville was a success, raising nearly $15,000 for the local chapter of the Green Beret Foundation.

The event was held Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Star Spangled Brewing Company. Organizers said between 500 and 600 people were in attendance to enjoy local beer, a silent auction, music, and food.

Proceeds from a special brew called the “Special Hoperator” went to the Green Beret Foundation and the Star Spangled Brewing Company presented them a check for $425 from that brew. Bench Clearing BBQ, Kona Ice of Greater Clarksville, and Nacho Mama Tacos all donated a portion of their sales to the foundation. Proceeds from the silent auction and ticket sales all benefited the Green Beret Foundation.

This event was hosted by the Fort Campbell Chapter of the Steel Mags, an elite sisterhood of women established by the Green Beret Foundation, with the goal of addressing the unique and critical needs of qualifying female family members of The United States Army Special Forces soldiers.

“These families often times won’t ask for help when help is needed, which is the sole reason we put on these events. We found that being creative and allowing people to have fun and get involved while still raising money for the families of these fallen soldiers makes all the difference,” said Jen Paquette, Executive Director of the Green Beret Foundation and founder of GBF’s sorority, the Steel Mags. “We want Green Berets and their wives and children to feel like we are all part of a family — we are here for them.”
