CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Over the last few years, Clarksville has seen an explosion of local breweries, and the scene is thriving. In honor of National Beer Day, Sept. 7, here are some local breweries where you can crack open a cold one.

Tennessee Valley Brewing Company: Eric and Wendy Brannstorm opened their doors on July 1, 2017, and were the first brewery to open in Clarksville, after Blackhorse. This is a veteran-owned and operated business located on 2088 Lowes Drive. They have won 10 medals from various beer competitions throughout the United States with a wide variety of beer styles to fit every palate and a secret menu of beer mixes. Open daily, TVBC was also voted Clarksville’s Best Brewery in 2020.

Blackhorse Pub and Brewery: Located at 132 Franklin St., this brewery is temporarily closed due to a fire in March. However, they are hoping to be open again by the end of the year. Sherri and Jeff Robinson opened the pub in 1992 and began brewing hand-crafted ales in 1995. They were one of the first breweries in Tennessee and the first in Clarksville. They brew over 30 different beers each year.

Evill Nash Brewing Co.: They are open Wednesday to Sunday, and are located at 232 S. Tenth St. James Miller started brewing in California but came to Tennessee in pursuit of a simple life. The company prides themselves on their small-batch barrel-aged beers and limited release experimental brews, but they do have a few staple beers that they sell year-round.

Gladiator Brewing Co.: The business opened last year and is veteran-owned. James and Funda Pradke’s mission is to make one perfectly brewed beer every single time. They are open Tuesday through Sunday and are located at 214 Tiny Town Road.

King’s Bluff Brewery:  This passion started out of Kristen and Dustyn Brewer’s basement and became a career for them. This brewery is located on 128 University Ave. and they’re open at noon every day from Tuesday to Sunday. Their most popular beer is the Liberty Park IPA, but if you are more of a wine-drinker, Kristen suggests the Thunder Red.

Star Spangled Brewing Company: When he retired from 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, Army veteran Josh Romaker turned his passion for brewing into a business. His best-selling beer is his Winchester Bourbon Ale, which is aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels. The brewery at 1030 Progress Drive is open Wednesday through Saturday. A second location will open soon on Spring Street downtown.

Strawberry Alley Ale Works: The popular restaurant and brewery, owned by Wes Cunningham, opened in 2018 in downtown Clarksville. Their brews include an array of IPA’s, brown ales and more. They are open seven days a week and are located at 103 Strawberry Alley.
