CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Jessica Baladad, founder of the social media project Feel For Your Life, knows all too well the importance of self breast exams.

She attributes them to saving her life.

Baladad was only 33 when she discovered a lump in her breast that turned out to be cancerous. She is the fourth generation in her family to get breast cancer.

“You think that it can’t happen to you and that you’re too young to have cancer,” said Baladad.

She was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer, which is closer to stage 3 breast cancer. At the time of her diagnosis, her aunt was dying from breast cancer.

During her chemotherapy treatments, she created the Feel for Your Life movement in hopes of raising awareness about the importance of knowing your own body.

After 16 rounds of chemotherapy, 24 rounds of radiation, a double mastectomy, and a hysterectomy, Baladad is in remission as of May 2019.

“A self-breast exam is the first thing that you can do for yourself to take control of your situation,” she sai.
