CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Brad VanKirk, a longtime Montgomery County resident, business leader, and community advocate, has announced his candidacy for the Montgomery County Commission, District 21.

Born in Warsaw, Indiana, VanKirk earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Austin Peay State University on a golf scholarship. During his time at APSU, he was an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, where he served as pledge master. He continues to give back to the organization today as president of the alumni housing committee.

VanKirk’s professional career spans more than 40 years, beginning with a decade in health care sales, followed by work as a mortgage broker, and for the past 16 years as a real estate professional. He is currently the principal broker and co-owner of Hospitality Realty and Hometown Property Management.

Encouraged by community members to seek public office, VanKirk said he developed a strong desire to use his experience, particularly in zoning and property taxation, to help guide responsible growth and smart planning across Montgomery County. He said he believes thoughtful development and fiscal responsibility are essential to preserving quality of life while supporting continued economic progress.

As the father of three grown daughters who attended Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and the grandfather of children currently enrolled, VanKirk said he is deeply invested in the future of local education. While the County Commission’s role is limited to approving the school system’s budget, he believes strong collaboration is essential. VanKirk said he plans to work closely with School Board members and education leaders to support responsible funding decisions, address overcrowding, and explore practical solutions that reduce reliance on portable classrooms while ensuring students and teachers have the resources they need.
