CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The body found in the Cumberland River near the Smith Branch Boat Ramp just south of Clarksville on April 26 has been identified that of missing 47-year-old Christopher Stewart.
Stewart was reported missing on April 20, and had not been heard from since April 10, when he was walking in the 500 block of Riverside Drive around 11 p.m., according to a news release from Clarksville Police Detective Michael Patterson.
At about 3:25 p.m. on April 26, barge crews reported seeing a body in the river near the Smith Branch Boat Ramp, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sandra Brandon.
Units were dispatched to both sides of the river while the barge crew maintained a visual on the body and assisted in the recovery, Brandon said.
CPD’s Special Operation Homicide Unit, which Patterson specified handles all unattended deaths, has taken over the investigation into Stewart’s death.
