CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The body of 19-year old Greyson Cairo-Ashton Townsend was recovered from the Red River last night by emergency responders.
According to Clarksville Fire Rescue spokesperson Micheal Rios, Townsend was swimming with friends in the Red River at Billy Dunlop Park Friday afternoon. He dove underwater and didn’t resurface. After searching for him, Townsend’s friends called 911 and emergency responders were dispatched.
At 3:18 p.m., Clarksville Fire Rescue’s Swiftwater rescue team, Clarksville Police Department and Montgomery County EMS responded to Billy Dunlop. The park and Blueway were closed for the search.

Rescue Crews were later joined by EMS divers, who recovered Townsends body around 6:15 p.m.
Billy Dunlop, Robert Clark Park and the Blueway have been reopened. Clarksville Fire Rescue issued a reminder to please use personal floatation devices when playing in and around the water.
