NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have identified the body of a man found by a kayaker Sunday morning on the edge of the Cumberland River in Nashville.
Metro police identified the victim as 19-year-old Mina Botros of Tampa Drive in south Nashville, according to WKRN News 2.
Authorities believe Botros was the driver of a stolen Pontiac G-6 that was involved in a crash Saturday night on Briley Parkway near Two Rivers Parkway in Donelson.
Botros fled the scene and drove down a steep embankment and into a large rock at the water’s edge, police reported.
The 19-year-old was found on the rock by a kayaker the following morning. Police say they found a pill bottle belonging to the stolen Pontiac’s owner inside Botros’ pocket.
A juvenile who Metro police say was also inside the stolen car was taken into custody at the scene of the crash and identified the driver as Botros.
The cause of his death has yet to be determined. Authorities do not suspect foul play.
