CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – An investigation is underway after a body was found submerged in water in a Cheatham County cave Wednesday morning.

WKRN News 2 reports that the discovery was made at a cave on Beluah Boulevard, just off of Highway 41A, not too far from City Hall.

Pleasant View police, EMS and the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.Authorities identified the victim as Robert Manly, who goes by RJ.

He was found in the cave by his father.

News 2 spoke to a friend of Manly’s, who said the cave is an area that is frequently visited by the community.

“It’s just a big opening in the side of a hill, a big kind of rock opening,” explained Cody Savage. “People go in there. Of course no one can see anything in there. It’s pitch black with a little creek in it.”

Investigators told News 2 they treat every death investigation as a crime scene until they determine differently.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is also involved in the investigation.
