CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Montgomery County Democratic Party (MCDP) will host four of the Democrats who have announced their candidacy for the special election for Tennessee District 7 this Saturday.

The speakers will be present at the MCDP’s 4th annual Blue South BBQ, one of two major fundraisers yearly for the MCDP, with all funds raised going toward electing Democrats in upcoming elections, according to a news release. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a straw poll to be held during the barbecue, with the results announced at the end.

In addition to speaking, these candidates – Reps. Aftyn Behn, Vincent Dixie and Bo Mitchell, and Mr. Darden Copeland – will be on-site to meet and talk with potential voters. “This is a great opportunity for voters to meet and talk with the candidates,” stated Christine McKinney, second vice chair of the MCDP, in the release. “The special election for the U.S. TN-7 Congressional seat is an opportunity for Democrats and progressives to flip this seat and send to Congress someone who will work for the betterment of the people of Tennessee. We’ve not had that in a long time.”

The Blue South BBQ will be held this Saturday, July 19, from 4-7 p.m. at the Benevolent Lodge-Port Royal, Order #210, located at 3014 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams.

Dessert, water, lemonade and beer will be provided. Attendees can purchase their choice of barbecue from the Legend’s BBQ food truck. Tickets are a $35 donation for the first adult and a $15 donation for subsequent adults (18+). No donation is required for children 17 and younger. Tickets are available at the door or online at Blue South BBQ.
