CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Blackhorse Pub and Brewery has announced the opening of its new brewing facility, Blackhorse Brewery, located in Alcoa, Tennessee.

The year 2018 saw changes for the company as it moved its second location, formerly located at 4429 Kingston Pike, to 430 S. Gay Street in historic downtown Knoxville. It was also the year the brewery began expansion by buying and renovating the former ALCOA Tennessee Operations “Garage Building N. 476” located at 441 N. Hall Rd.

The building, designed by V.J. Hultquist, dates to the early 1940s and for the last few years had been unused and vacant. The Robinsons are excited to bring life back to the industrial building in the form of the company’s new production brewery.

The project, with a total investment of $3 million, will enable the Blackhorse to grow its distribution footprint not only in Middle and East Tennessee, but moving westwards into Jackson and Memphis while also looking forward to cities such as Asheville, NC, Huntsville, AL, and Bowling Green, KY. The Alcoa location’s second phase will include a restaurant and beer garden slated to begin construction in February with a forecasted opening date of May 2019. The venture will also bring approximately 50 new jobs to Alcoa.

Owners Jeff and Sherri Robinson first opened The Franklin Street Pub in downtown Clarksville in 1992, followed by the Blackhorse Brewery and Pizza Kitchen in 1995. Late in 1996, the two businesses joined to form what is now known as the Blackhorse Pub and Brewery.

“We are committed to the community of Clarksville and to the continued growth of its downtown, while also looking to the future growth of the company as a regional craft brewery,” owners Jeff and Sherri Robinson said.

The Robinsons also have plans to construct a new brewery building and events space on N. Second Street in Clarksville.
