CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Black History Month Committee wrapped up February with their 38th annual Black History Month Celebration on Monday at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Close to 300 guests attended the event, which commemorated the organization that was formed in 1984. The event featured dinner, entertainment, a salute to veterans, as well as speakers on black history, and supporting youth and the next generation of black leaders.

“For so long we didn’t have a voice, and now going through the pandemic and going through the things we’re going through, we just wanted to celebrate because it’s been such trying times, especially over the last couple of years,” said Cathy Adams-Johnson, director of the committee.
