Billy Gene Harris, 88, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at his residence.
Billy was born on October 25, 1926, in Springfield, TN to the late Wiley Harris and Elizabeth Couts Harris. Billy was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lois Gray Harris.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. Craig Wascovich officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
Bill was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy. He proudly worked 35 years, as a mail carrier, for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, where he gave his service in earlier years to the youth and later to the ”Food Room”, until his passing. He loved fishing and hunting. His true love beyond his family and friends, were his trains. He loved nothing more than to run his trains for delighted children (and adults), but especially for his great-grandsons. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Billy is survived by his sister, Nancy Wattwood; son, Tom Harris (Susan); daughter, Libby Harris Black (James); granddaughter, Sarah Daniel; grandson, Graeme Daniel (Kelly); two great grandsons, Myles and Rhys Daniel; and two great-grand dogs, Stella and Taylor, all of Clarksville, TN.
