Billie Ruth Quarles, age 83, of Clarksville, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Gateway Medical Center.

She was born in Montgomery County, to the late Charles R. Sawyer and Lathie Black Sawyer. Billie Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Quarles and sister, Elizabeth Manning Binkley.

Mrs. Quarles was a devoted wife and mother. She was a life-long member of First Christian Church, where she served in many capacities. Billie Ruth was very active in the community, as a member of many civic associations and boards. She established the First Personal Office and served 32 years as First Personal Director for the City of Clarksville, where she implemented many programs that remain active today.

A Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Skip Armistead officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.

Mrs. Quarles is survived by her son, Teddy (Donna) Quarles, of Houston, TX; daughter, Becky (Bobby) Austin, of Austin, TX; nephew, Artie Manning, Jr., of Clarksville; niece, Sallie Rutherford, of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
