FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Legislature is considering a bill that would end dog fighting in the state.

According to the APSCA, Kentucky is the only state in the nation where the possession of dogs for the purpose of fighting is still legal.

House Bill 154, sponsored by House Speaker Greg Stumbo, would make this a felony and help law enforcement target dog fighters.

Kentucky residents are urged to call and email their state representatives and ask them to support the bill. Find a list of representatives and contact information here.

The APSCA also offers a form that will be sent directly to public officials. Fill it out here.
