NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Senate Transportation and Safety Committee is discussing new requirements aimed to improve interactions between drivers and police.
WKRN News 2 reports that lawmakers are discussing requiring The Department of Safety to develop an informational video that people who are taking the driver’s exam will be required to watch.
The video would explain a driver’s rights and the rights and responsibilities of police.
It would also provide tips to avoid violence during traffic stops.
The bill stipulates that starting Sept. 1, 2016, all first-time drivers will be required to watch the informational video.
The Senate Transportation and Safety Committee plans to continue its discussion on the bill Monday.
