CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Sunrise Rotary Club will host a 100-mile, 62-mile, and 33-mile bike tours as a fundraiser Saturday, September 5, starting at 6:45 a.m. at Rossview High School.

Early registration will be Friday, September 4 at Clarksville Hilton Garden Inn off exit 4. The fees to register for the race are $50 for Elite 100 and 62 mile and $40 for 33 mile. Regular registration will begin the day of the race at 5:50 a.m.

This year will be the 12th Sunrise Century Bicycle Tour hosted by the Clarksville Sunrise Rotary Club. Quotes from the June 2012 issue of Bicycling Magazine describe this annual Labor Day weekend event as “the easiest 100 miles you’ll ever pedal”, “the fastest, easiest, and safest 100 mile bicycle ride in the U.S.” The magazine ranked the ride in 5th place of the top 10 rides in the U.S.

The Clarksville Sunrise Century boasts the fastest ever sub 4-hour “century” in the U. S. with a time of 3:43:50.

Participants may sign up at registration to win a $2,000 bike and attend a clinic held the night before at the Hilton Gardens Inn. Both the bike and clinic are provided by Bikes and More.

This event is the primary fundraiser for the Sunrise Rotary Club. All proceeds are allocated to improve local and international health, education, and literacy and reduce hunger and poverty. This year the Club is joining with the two other Rotary clubs in Clarksville to build a splash pad for children and a special park for disabled children in Clarksville.

Through funding of ambassadorial and college scholarships for local students, clean water projects abroad, and the support of many area non-profits, the Clarksville Sunrise Rotary Club helps further Rotary’s primary goal of promoting world peace through understanding.
