CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)– An Alabama boy battling a rare disorder will be in for a big surprise when his family makes a pitstop in Clarksville to fulfill his ‘motorcycle wish’ as they travel to St. Louis for a pre-op appointment.
The Bikers Who Care Motorcycle organization will surprise 6-year-old Grayson Smith on Wednesday, Oct.16 with Grayson’s wish is ‘to ride or see a bunch of motorcycles.’
BWC will make that happen when the family stops in Clarksville and receive a surprise motorcycle escort to Appleton Harley Davidson on Highway 41-A Bypass.
Clarksville’s Bikers Who Care will then surprise him with a rally of local motorcycle enthusiasts, gifts and a lot of support and love.
“It’s such a blessing and I’m so appreciative of them doing this for him,” said Jennifer Smith, his mother. “Grayson gets so excited when he sees motorcycles on the road. He will ask me to drive faster so he can see them.”
Grayson was born with a one-of-a-kind genetic disorder and has undergone 37 surgeries in his short life. He continues to defy odds as doctors did not expect him to make it to his first birthday. His spine is now curved in a way that is crushing his lungs, stomach and other organs and he needs surgery to alleviate his pain and save his life.
The family will be traveling to St. Louis on Oct. 16 for pre-op appointments for major surgery in late November. It will be one of the most difficult surgeries Grayson will have to face, Smith said.
“It’s stressful,” Smith said about the surgery. “..but it’s so comforting to know so many people care about Grayson to say, ‘On your way stop so we can show how much we care about your son. I’m very happy for Grayson.”
The ride will begin on Wednesday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Appleton Harley Davidson, located at 250 Highway 41-A Bypass in Clarksville.
