CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It was a day filled with fun this weekend for close to 15 kids at the Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville held another of their Big for a Day events.

Big for a Day is for kids who are not matched with a Big Sister or Big Brother and waiting for a volunteer mentor from the organization. It gives the kids a chance to enjoy a day of activities with members of the community.

Executive Director Chris Buerck talked about Big for a Day on Saturday. “We bring them out to do a fun activity and keep them engaged with the program, so they know that they are special, and they are part of Big Brothers Big Sisters,” Buerck said.

The Big for a Day event is held with different organizations and businesses in the community. On this day, the Clarksville Rotary Club brought out over a dozen volunteers to be paired with a kid to bowl and be a friend for a day.

Buerck encouraged other groups who would like to volunteer and support the children of Big Brothers Big Sisters and Big for a Day to contact the organization at 931-647-1418 for more information.

At this time, Buerck said there are close to 20 kids that could be matched to a mentor, and there are nearly 70 children waiting to be processed into the organization for volunteer mentors. The organization is always looking for caring adults to volunteer, to be a mentor, and be a friend in a one-to-one relationship with a youngster.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville will be holding their annual Bowl for Kid’s Sake Community Bowl fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center. Go to bbbsclarksville.org and sign up or form a team to bowl and support the kids with Big Brothers Bis Sisters.
