Betty Virginia Patterson Birdwell, age 93, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Morning Pointe of Franklin, TN.
Betty was born March 11, 1929 in Gallatin, TN to the late Gray Patterson and Virginia May Brown Patterson. Betty graduated from Gallatin High School in May 1947 and attended Winthrop University in South Carolina.
Betty is survived by her husband of seventy one years, Don C. Birdwell of Clarksville, TN and their four sons: Don C. (Susan) Birdwell, Jr. of Franklin TN, Clay Birdwell of Franklin, TN, Steve (Beth) Birdwell of Hilton Head, SC, David (Vanessa) Birdwell of Marietta, GA, grandchildren: Katie (Frank) Hubbuch of Franklin, TN, Rebecca (Zach) Romine of Franklin, TN, Mary Catherine (Wesley) Williams of Chicago, IL, Louisa (Sean) Noonan of Lake Tahoe, CA, Arden Birdwell of Brooklyn, NY, Navie Birdwell, of Nashville, TN, Reed Birdwell, of Marietta, GA and seven great grandchildren, Hannah and Grayson Hubbuch, Cole and Mason Romine and Olivia, Selene and Miles Williams.
Betty was a devoted homemaker who was adored by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an accomplished (and competitive) bridge player, taught by her grandmother and mother, at a very early age. She loved sports, gardening and having her family gather at her house as often as possible.
Betty was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, for the last 50 plus years at Madison Street United Methodist church, where she taught Children’s Sunday School classes for over 25 years.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 25th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home.
