Betty Juanita “Nita” Griffin, age 90, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at her residence.

Nita was born August 9, 1931, in Tennessee City, TN, to the late Howard G. Edwards and Mary Ruth Tipton Edwards. She was a loving wife for 71 years, and a devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Griffin was loved by many, and all the neighborhood children called her “Momma G,” and their children called her “Granny G.” Nita never met a stranger and was loved by all.

Nita was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Dickson and retired from the Department of Corrections. She loved animals and always made sure the wild birds and squirrels had plenty of food and water. Nita was an avid lover of Chihuahuas and rescued many seniors whom she doted on. She had a passion for country music, especially Gene Watson. Her hobbies included watching Alabama football games and socializing on Facebook.

Nita is survived by her husband, Robert Griffin; four sons, Steven (Rita) Griffin, Alan Griffin, Gary Griffin, and Mark (Susan) Griffin; daughter, Angel Griffin; sister, Wilma (Bill) Waye; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and her beloved pets Chip, Sophie, Dexter, Charlie, Cash, Karly, and Lilli.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, December 20, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, December 20, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Devin Gilliam, Caleb Gilliam, Chase Nichols, Lyndon Wayne Watts, Joshua Wright, and Cory Gunter.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Home Healthcare and Nita’s caregivers, Denise, Natalie, Brooksie, Allison, Mary, and Rose.
