Betty Joyce McMurry, age 87, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Jubilee House.
Mrs. McMurry was born December 1, 1934, to the late John Elbert Thweatt and Jewel Beatrice Key. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert McMurry and nephew, Ray Weinberg III.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Ray Weinberg; nieces, Beth W.(Mark) Easterling, Michelle Moseley (Daniel) Knight, Nita Killebrew Weinberg, along with many great nieces and nephews and their children. She is also survived by her cousin, Jane (Tom) Woodall.
Betty was a long time volunteer of The Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Clarksville and an active member of The Faith Sunday School Class.
Betty was a lover of animals especially her cats, Caesar, Casey, Dusty, Grady and she loved her dog, Ginger. Mrs. McMurry was a wonderful seamstress. In her younger years, she won numerous ribbons at the Montgomery and Dickson County Fairs.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Pat Van Dyke officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday December 23, 2021, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
