A Celebration of Life service for Betty “Diane” Smith, age 71 of Cumberland Furnace, will be Sunday, February 2, 2020, at 3:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Diane passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 13, 1949, in Harriman, TN to Charles and Betty Lou Hurst. Diane retired as a manager from Hardee’s and Arby’s. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, spending time with her great-grandchildren, and was always the center of attention with her contagious laugh.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith, and brother, David Hurst. Diane is survived by her children, Donna (Michael) Herrell, Alan Smith, and Christina (Greg) Wofford; siblings: Jerry Hurst, Mike (Carol) Hurst, Teresa (Donnie) Dennis, Delores (Steve) Jackson, and Randy (Maribel) Davidson; grandchildren: Blake (Chrissy) Wofford, Nichole (Robbie) Lopez, Tabatha (Jacob) Akins, Shane Herrell, Shaina (Darrell) Spicer, Tara (Julian) Recella, and Alisha Herrell; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
