CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Best of Clarksville has selected Two Ladies Caring Pet Rescue as a 2019 charity partner. The organization has been an official 501(c)3 organization for five years, but spent another five years prior rescuing dogs on a smaller scale and paying for expenses out of pocket.
This no kill rescue is committed to working with the local Animal Control saving dogs in Montgomery County. They work to make sure as many dogs as possible do not fall victim to euthanization when adoption is possible.
The program not only rescues the dogs but provides spay and neuter services, rehabilitation, and micro chipping prior to adoption. After adoption, Two Ladies Caring remain a secondary contact on the chip in case the dog is ever brought back to the shelter or lost. Pet adoptions take place most Saturdays at the local Petsmart.
In the community, Two Ladies Caring visits veteran and assisted living homes. Both the residents and the homeless dogs love the visits as it provides a momentary relationship and connection both sides are often missing.
The Best of Clarksville donation will assist with veterinary care, supplies, and feeding of abandoned and surrendered dogs along with the negleted and abused dogs in their care. The donation will also support a new initiative by the non-profit, Seniors Helping Seniors. The program pairs senior adults who may be alone or without family nearby with a senior canine. The non-profit covers the extra costs associated with caring for senior dogs.
As many seniors are on a fixed income, Two Ladies Caring will partner with organizations that work with the senior community. Social workers, Meals on Wheels, etc will identify potential seniors that would benefit from a companion pet. TLC provides food, medical, grooming, flea prevention, and more for the aging dogs.
Two Ladies Caring puts 100% of the donations back into serving and rehabilitating dogs in Montgomery County. There are no paid staff members at TLC, this volunteer driven organization relies on the service and donation of community events and groups such as Best of Clarksville.
