CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Best of Clarksville has selected the Sexual Assault Center as a 2019 charity partner. The center has been in Clarksville for four years.
They had served sexual assault clients for many years in the Clarksville-Montgomery County community but, when state funding in Tennessee changed, the center was unable to continue operations. In 2015, the organization was able to resume services to the Montgomery County community.
The Center is responding to the increasing demand for services in Clarksville, ensuring survivors receive the compassionate care needed to address the trauma of sexual violence. The Sexual Assault Center gives victims a space to heal, to move forward with their lives and to thrive.
This past year, 281 survivors were served in the Clarksville area. This is a 62-percent increase over the previous year.
The Best of Clarksville donation will 100-percent remain in Montgomery County. The funding will support a full-time therapist who provides individual and group therapy for children, youth, and adults. That includes approximately 880 counseling sessions in 2019.
The Sexual Assault Center will be at Best of Clarksville on Thursday, October 3 to connect with the community. Ticket proceeds from Best of Clarksville are part of the overall donation to the 2019 charity partners.
