CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Dawn Stanfill Foundation has been chosen as one of several local organizations in Clarksville to receive funds from the 2018 Best of Clarksville event this October.
The mission of the Dawn Stanfill Foundation is to provide financial support to local pediatric cancer patients and their families as well as local pediatric oncology research. The organization strives to make the struggle of pediatric cancer less of a financial burden and to help in the ongoing quest to find a cure for cancer.
The Clarksville-based organization uses funds that are raised to provide financial support to families with children diagnosed with cancer, as well as toys and games for the children.
Pam McCaslin, the foundation’s secretary and treasurer, said they are excited to be opening ‘Dawn’s Book Nook’ at Centennial Hospital. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place this June and will provide a space for children to read books while at the hospital.
The majority of the foundation’s operating funds come from an annual fundraiser called Dancing Til Dawn. This year, the event will be held on September 29 at F&M Bank. Advanced tickets to the event are available through their website.
If you know of a local family that needs assistance for a child under the age of 18 that has been diagnosed with cancer, the Dawn Stanfill Foundation would like to help. There is a user-friendly form on their website that can be used to submit requested information.
The Best of Clarksville accepts applications from new charities each year for the fundraiser. New applications are accepted during the months of January and February.
