Bella Bouhuys Adams, age 92, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021.
Bella was born July 8, 1929, in Asheville, NC, to the late A.G. Bouhuys and Bernardina Kraemer Bouhuys.
She graduated in May 1951 from UNC Greensboro with a business degree and married James W. Adams August 1, 1954.
Mrs. Adams spent many summers in The Netherlands with her family. Her first love was her children, but she also loved gardening, orchids, Asheville, NC, and Vero Beach, FL. She and her husband opened Adams Professional Pharmacy in Asheville, NC in 1958 and sold in the late 1970s to Medi-Save Pharmacy.
Bella was a member of Ikebana International, volunteered at the Old Asheville Orthopedic Hospital, was Rotary-Ann in support of Rotary International, she belonged to the Navy League Squadron, volunteered 15 years at Indian River Memorial Hospital and at the art center in Vero Beach.
She and her husband lived in Asheville, NC, Vero Beach, FL, and Clarksville, TN part time when her husband, James W. Adams passed away in 2012. Bella moved to Jacksonville, FL in 2014, and after her son, Jim passed away in 2016, she moved to Clarksville, TN to be near her son, Gary Adams.
Bella is survived by her daughter Kim (Mike) Cort, son, Gary (Cindy) Adams, daughter-in-law Cheryl Adams, and seven grandchildren, Jake (Kellye) Adams, Glenndon (Shelby) Adams, Jeremy Cort, Jesse Cort, Michael Cort, Matthew Adams, and Michael Adams. She also had one great-grandson, Gannon Adams.
She desired no Memorial Service, however wanted to have her ashes spread in the ocean.
