CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A quick 30 minute trip South is an outdoor area perfect for a fun daytime getaway. Beaman Park provides visitors with walking trails, a nature center, and creek that’s waiting to be explored.

The park is part of the Nashville Metro Parks trails. The entire park sits on 1688 acres, lies on the Highland Rim, just outside the Nashville Basin. This provides visitors with unique vantage points, elevation drops, and scenic overlooks.

There are three different trails to choose within the park: Henry Hollow Loop, Sedge Hill Trail, and Beaman Park Loop. If you’re bringing children or pets, it’s recommended to enter near the Nature Center and Sedge Hill Trail. The Nature Center has an indoor bathroom, picnic area, and the area provides plenty of parking.

The park is pet friendly, as long as they remain on a leash. During our few excursions, our Beagle and Blue Heeler have done well on all three trails. Their favorite experience has been walking through the creek. While we have never encountered any potentially dangerous park inhabitants, park officials have stated bobcats, snakes, and raccoons are all actively present in the park.

Hiking the trails with pets or children is entirely possible. While there are inclines and declines, they are gradual. The trails are well kept, but do have roots, rocks, and other potential hazards of which to be mindful. At the Ridgetop Trail parents should be mindful there will be areas that the trail follows the ridgeline.

Last year, during one particular outing, we found several painted rocks, part of the Clarksville Rocks. The children enjoyed searching for them and it provided a fun activity of hiding new rocks on a return visit.

If you’re planning a trip to Beaman Park, take a look at their summer event calendar. There are a lot of different activities happening, almost every weekend.
