CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome (CADS) is hosting its 6th Annual Community C.A.R.E.S. Walk & Expo, Saturday, October 14 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center at Liberty Park. Activities will be going on from 8:30 a.m. until noon.

C.A.R.E.S. stands for Community Advocating for Resources for Every Special citizen. Dozens of vendors and hundreds of walkers turn out each year for the free event with a theme this year of Pirates and Mermaids. There are lots of children’s activities, appearances by local mascots, and a silent auction.

You can also enjoy free food, entertainment, music therapy sessions and chair massages. The community event is for those special citizens and their families to help bring awareness and resources to them on subjects of health, wellness, safety, education, and more.

Everyone is also encouraged to be a part of the walk around the pond at Liberty Park with all Special Citizens receiving a medal at the finish line and free t-shirts are available with walk registration while supplies last.

One hundred percent of the funds raised at the event will stay in Clarksville-Montgomery County and surrounding counties to support the work of the Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome.

The CADS organization is focusing its energy on the Community Cares Clubhouse, a place for individuals with disabilities to come and feel typical. Plans are for the clubhouse to offer art, music, reading programs, a playroom and other activities which will all be free.
