CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville Bowl for Kids’ Sake is coming up Saturday, March 8 from 1-5 p.m. at the Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center, 430 Warfield Boulevard.

Officials from Big Brothers Big Sisters have postponed the Banker’s Challenge planned for Tuesday night. Amy Carroll, Executive Director with BBBS, cited the hazardous road conditions. “We want to look out for the safety of our participants,” she said.

The Bankers Challenge is part of the Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser. BBBS has no alternative date, but they do plan to reschedule. The Bankers Challenge raises a major portion of the total from Bowl for Kids Sake.

“I want them to be able to come and celebrate because they have worked tremendously hard,” Carroll said.

The Banker’s Challenge is a special event involving many local banks who gather their employees together and form teams to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. The 2013 Banker’s Challenge brought in close to $30,000 for the agency.

Everyone is encouraged to form a team of 4-5 players and reserve a time to bowl and collect donations for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Teams can be made up of family members, co-workers or friends and there is still time to get your team in to Bowl for Kids’ Sake.

For both the Banker’s Challenge and the main Bowl for Kids’ Sake event the public is invited to stop by and get involved. You don’t have to be a great bowler or even a bowler at all, to stop by the Pinnacle and cheer on the teams and have fun.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville is part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and has been serving the local community since 1975. The national organization is the country’s oldest and largest youth mentoring group.

In 2013 the local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency had 170 Big/Little matches, but there are still a large number of children on their waiting list hoping to be matched with a caring adult role model.
