CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) ESPN Clarlsville and Marion Jewell have chosen Austin Peay’s Tearra Banks as the Marion Jewell APSU Athlete of the Week. Banks is a senior center for the Governors women’s basketball team.

In the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky, Banks reached the 1,000 point plateau for her career, becoming the 19th APSU player to reach the milestone. She accomplished the feat on her final shot attempt of the afternoon, scoring 15 points overall.

In Austin Peay’s recent 77-74 win over East Tennessee, the Louisville native posted 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. It was the ninth time she has scored 20 or more points in her career. Banks now ranks third in the league in scoring at 15.4 points per game and also sits second in the OVC.

Banks has also claimed her first Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor
