NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An alert for a missing Nashville infant was cancelled Sunday after the baby was found in Alabama. Her babysitter has been charged with kidnapping.

WKRN News 2 reports that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an alert for 4-month-old Jalayia Gonzalez and her 22-year-old babysitter, Javeele Thomas after they went missing from a home in Antioch.

Thomas and a male driver were later pulled over by Alabama police. The baby was safe, and the driver said he thought Thomas was the mother of the child.

Police said Thomas had told her boyfriend (the driver) several months ago that she was pregnant with his child. She later lost contact with him and said she had the baby while out of town. She presented the missing infant as her own after kidnapping her and they were on their way to see family in Alabama.

Thomas has since been charged with second degree kidnapping and released on $20,000 bond.
