Update, 3:35 p.m.: The child is now home with his parents, and Sheriff’s Office investigators have located the driver.

“We appreciate the public’s assistance in this matter,” said MCSO Lt. Mark Wojnarek.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is taking the lead on the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office has assigned portions of this case to the Special Victims Unit as is standard operating protocol when children may have been endangered, Wojnarek said.

WOODLAWN, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – An infant who had wandered out onto Dotsonville Road was struck by a hit-and-run driver Monday evening.

At about 5 p.m., the infant boy was crawling in the roadway in the 1700 block of Dotsonville Road when he was hit by a car that fled the scene, according to a report by Montgomery County Deputy Alexis Maher.

The parents explained they had been cooking dinner and didn’t realize the child was gone.

Officers reported the child was alert and awake upon being transported to the hospital by EMS.

Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a silver Honda, possibly a Civic, that was seen by a witness speeding from the scene. It may have an off-colored white front bumper with a blue license plate, according to report taken by Deputy Dylan Joe Ragsdale.
