CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The state autopsy report for 13-year-old Kadaris Maddox states that the boy’s death was the result of malnutrition, and it classifies his death as a homicide.
The report, obtained Wednesday by Clarksville Now, was written by Forensic Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Kent, who works at the Center for Forensic Medicine in Nashville.

On July 6, EMS paramedics responded to a call on Virginia Terrace, where unsafe conditions, as well as the body of the deceased 13-year-old boy, prompted first responders to call police.
Kadaris’ mother, Cheyenne Maddox, was arrested on five counts of child abuse and neglect. On Aug. 9, authorities charged Maddox again, this time in the death of Kadaris, charging her with aggravated child abuse/neglect/endangerment of a child.
DA to review new evidence
The autopsy report states there were also “small abrasions, healing abrasions, multiple well-healed scars, and a few superficial ulcers” but no signs of broken bones or internal injuries.
Mongomery County District Attorney Robert Nash said his office will review the report and determine the appropriate charges.
Dawn Maddox, Kadaris’s grandmother, told Clarksville Now she knew her grandson died because of something like this.
“It’s hard to say how I feel because that is my daughter and I love her. How could she do something like this? Because he was a good baby,” Maddox said.
