Update, 11:40 p.m.: The incident started at about 9:10 p.m. as deputies observed suspicious activity in the parking lot. Deputies saw a vehicle with an open trunk traveling above the posted speed. The deputies heard and saw gunshots fired. Deputies radioed dispatch for assistance and responding patrol deputies stopped the vehicle.

Multiple deputies, along with Clarksville Police, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded and deputies have detained one adult and two juvenile suspects. Deputies have recovered bullet shell casings, a firearm, and seized at least one vehicle. Sheriff John Fuson has sent members of the Criminal Investigation and Intel Division to the scene and they are now processing evidence and collecting witness statements.

“The Sheriff’s Office regularly has additional deputies at school-sponsored sporting events like tonight’s football game,” Wojnarek said. “This is especially helpful when situations transpire or become aggravated and we are already on scene.”

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Gunshots disrupted the football game at West Creek High School on Friday night.

Lt. Mark Wojnarek, with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, said the shooting occurred around 9:10 p.m.

“No one was injured. Deputies have detained two persons of interest in relation to the shooting, and have located bullet shell casings and a firearm,” Wajnarek said. “We have no reports of any injuries at this time.”

Wojnarek said Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department advises anyone still going to pick up children, family, or friends, to meet at the point of reunification at West Creek Middle School.

“People are asked to drive cautiously,” he said.

Law enforcement were on the scene and had “persons of interest” detained.
