CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay State University announced on Wednesday they do not plan to renew the contract of head volleyball coach Taylor Mott, who has spent the past 13 years with the Governors. The change in leadership has been made effective immediately, according to a news release sent to Clarksville Now.

“I want to thank Taylor for her 13 years of service to our student-athletes and the Governors volleyball and beach volleyball programs,” said APSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison. “Taylor won three volleyball conference championships at Austin Peay, then started our beach volleyball program and won two more conference titles. She has taken both of our volleyball programs to new heights, and we wish her and her family nothing but the best going forward.”

Mott was hired as Austin Peay’s head volleyball coach prior to the 2012 season, and she provided the program with the stability that was needed following a trio of coaches that led the program for just one season each, according to the release.

In her 13 seasons coaching at APSU, Mott compiled a record of 200-192, which includes a conference record of 111-91. Mott ranks second in Austin Peay volleyball history with her 200 wins, trailing only Cheryl Holt, who won 364 games during her tenure.

With only six matches remaining in the 2024-25 volleyball season, Austin Peay announced assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Connor Crawford will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season until a replacement is named. APSU volleyball currently has a record of 1-21.

Austin Peay will now immediately begin a national search for its 10th head volleyball coach.
