CLARKSVILLE, TN – For over a decade now Florim USA has partnered with Austin Peay State University to offer scholarships, internships, and an International Program that resulted in a student’s visit to the Florim parent company in Italy.

Because this partnership is so important, and with the new installment of the University’s new President, Dr. Mike Licari, an invitation to tour the plant and discuss ways to strengthen the partnership was strategic for moving forward.

Licari, Dr. Karen Meisch, Dean of the College of STEM, and staff from the University Advancement Department joined Florim USA’s President Antonio Albanese and staff to learn more about Florim and how the partnership can continue to benefit students at APSU. The plant tour, with increased awareness of the tile manufacturing process, provided insight.

“I was impressed with the scope and sophistication of the tile making process. I had never toured anything like it before, and so was not sure what to expect,” stated President Licari. “But I was amazed by the size of the facility and the technology involved.”

Over the years, Florim has presented scholarships in Marketing, Chemistry and Computer Science. Currently, there is an annual scholarship of $6,000 awarded to a student studying Engineering Physics. This evolution was based on the needs and trends of the job market.

Albanese stated, “This partnership is about offering relevant opportunities based on both community and national needs in the job market. A strong educational system is integral to the success of a community and its economy. APSU is a pillar for the Clarksville and surrounding area. Our partnership is a responsible way of contributing to our community.”

President Licari agreed wholeheartedly, “I am grateful for the support that Florim USA has provided to the university and am eager to move our partnership to the next level, including the development of internships and other ways of connecting Austin Peay students to great careers.”
