CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After a successful regular season, which included securing a share of the ASUN regular season title, the Austin Peay men’s basketball team earned a school record six ASUN postseason awards.

Star big man Collin Parker was named ASUN Newcomer of the Year and was a First Team All-ASUN selection. Meanwhile, point guard Zyree Collins was named ASUN Freshman of the Year and was a Third Team All-ASUN selection, in addition to being a unanimous All-Freshman Team selection. Finally, Rashaud Marshall earned Second Team All-ASUN honors as well.

Parker is fifth in the ASUN in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game, while Collins leads all ASUN freshmen in points (13.5), assists (4.3), and steals (2.3) per game. Marshall ranked top 10 in the ASUN in points (15.5), rebounds (6.5), and blocks (1.0) per game.

The Govs’ six postseason honors are the most in school history, surpassing the five honors the team earned after the 1996-97 and 2017-18 seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference. This is just the fifth time in program history the team has had three all-conference selections.

Collins is the second Gov in a row to win Freshman of the Year after Tate McCubbin won the honor last season. Meanwhile, Parker is the first Gov to win ASUN Newcomer of the Year and be a First Team All-ASUN selection in the same season. Parker is also the first Gov to win Newcomer of the Year since Trenton Hassell in 1999.

In addition to the on-court achievements, three Govs also earned academic honors. Parker, Anton Brookshire and Creighton Morisch each received Academic All-ASUN honors. The three academic honors are the most the Govs have ever had in one season.

APSU women’s basketball honors

The Austin Peay women’s basketball team received two honors as well. Anovia Sheals earned Second Team All-ASUN honors while Jim’Miyah Branton was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.

Sheals leads the Govs with 14 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Meanwhile, Branton is second on the team averaging 10.3 points and also contributing 3.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Sheals, JaNiah Newell and Jeanine Brandsma all earned Academic All-ASUN selections.
