CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On Monday when Austin Peay football introduced its new head coach, the Governors starting quarterback Jeremiah Oatsvall announced his decision to transfer.
The former three-start recruit from Brentwood Academy included that he’s up for a potential position change, as he plans to transfer as an athlete.
Oatsvall will also retain two years of eligibility moving forward with his collegiate career.
After suffering a season-ending foot injury in the first game of last season, Oatsvall saw three starts back at quarterback during the Govs recent fall-slate of games.
Oatsvall finished 41-of-83 for 479 yards passing with no touchdowns and three interceptions over that stretch.
In part due to his dual-threat talents under center, Oatsvall captured OVC Freshman of the Year honors in 2017 after amassing over 1,600 yards of total offense and 13 total touchdowns.
Many of Oatsvall’s teammates took to Twitter to thank him for all of the memories.
Oatsvall also did not rule out the possibility of one day playing alongside his younger brother, Elijah.
The 6-foot-1, 208-pound redshirt junior will likely have many suitors when it comes to acquiring his services, based on previous production and his willingness to play wherever needed at on the field.
With the Governors set to kick off the 2021 spring schedule in February, new Austin Peay head football coach Scotty Walden will have little time to evaluate his quarterback room and name a starter.
Austin Peay currently has five quarterbacks on its roster, featuring redshirt junior Kam Williams, who has the most experience, and local Clarksville Academy product Bryce Robinson, who is a redshirt freshman.
