CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay State University will be celebrating homecoming throughout the week, kicking off the festivities Monday, November 4, with a bonfire, pep rally and court announcement at 7 p.m. and culminating in the Homecoming Step Show on Saturday at the Foy Center.

The highlight of Homecoming Week will begin at Fortera Stadium, 3 p.m, when the Governors will face off against UT Martin’s Skyhawks. The stakes will be high as both teams battle for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is ‘Gov’s on Broadway.’

The schedule for Homecoming events is as follows:

Monday: November 4

    • 7 p.m: Bonfire, pep rally and court announcement at the Dunn Bowl
  • 7:45 p.m: SGA T-Shirt giveaway at the Dunn Bowl

Tuesday: November 5

  • Noon: Homecoming Hangout at Morgan University Plaza
  • 7 p.m: Comedy Show at the Foy

Wednesday: November 6

  • 9 a.m: Campus spirit judging at various locations
  • Noon: T-shirt swap at MUC Plaza
  • 3 p.m: Gov Tug at Intramural Field

Thursday: November 7

  • Noon: Throwback Thursday Mystery Event at MUC Plaza
  • 7 p.m: Govs Got Talent at the Foy

Friday: November 8

  • Noon: Music Chairs Contest at MUC Plaza
  • 7 p.m: Smash! Bang! Lip contest at the Foy

Saturday: November 9

  • 10 a.m: Homecoming Parade
  • 3 p.m: Governors vs UT Martin
  • 8 p.m: NPHC Homecoming Step Show at the Foy

Basketball teams to open season on Tuesday, November 5

As APSU Football prepares to battle the Skyhawks, Gov’s Basketball will get under way on Tuesday night at the Dunn Center at 8 p.m. That’s when the Govs will host Oakland City in their regular season opener. They follow the women’s basketball opener, which is set to tip at 5:30 p.m. Oakland City will be APSU’s home opener opponent for the fourth straight season. The women’s team hosts Kentucky Wesleyan.

Events around campus

Several other events coincide with homecoming, ensuring there is something for everyone. Iranian Multidisciplinary artist, Raheleh Filsoofi will speak on campus following a special performance by musician Reza Filssofi. The Department of Art + Design will also host the internationally acclaimed ‘Do It’ exhibit in the New Gallery.

Off campus, locals can enjoy the third installment of Science on Tap in Strawberry Alley Ale Work’s Pilsner Room, where Dr Kallina Dunkle will discuss sinkholes.
