CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay men’s basketball has started the season with some tough losses, but better days may be ahead.

Nate James and the Govs team have faced a number of difficult opponents, including an undefeated North Carolina State team. The Wolfpack has one of the most explosive offensive attacks in the country, averaging around 93 points per game through three games, and that includes a 99-50 win against APSU.

Austin Peay men’s basketball has also faced another undefeated team in Purdue University. The Boilermakers have been one of the most consistent teams under head coach Matt Painter in recent memory and the team is ranked 24th in the coach’s poll.

APSU gave it their all during the matchup but came up short and lost 44-63. The biggest takeaway was that Austin Peay held Purdue’s offense to a season low in points scored.

What’s to come

The Govs finally fought their way into the victory column by defeating Milligan 98-74 on Monday. The team scored a season high of 98 points, led by sophomore forward Shon Robinson who scored 27.

The Austin Peay men’s basketball program has a number of favorable matchups coming their way, including a winless South Florida team in Tampa on Thursday. South Florida has already been upset by underdogs such as Southeast Missouri State and Stetson, so don’t sleep on the Govs to pull off the away victory.
