CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Indiana Pacers forward Terry Taylor has had his contract status come full circle since signing a training camp deal with the organization last season. After signing the initial contract, Taylor has continuously been rewarded for his play and productivity.
Most recently, the Pacers signed Taylor to a multi-year contract extension. The deal ties him to the team until he becomes a free agent in 2024. However, according to Basketball Reference, only $625,000 was guaranteed for the 2022-23 season.
This was the case until Indiana’s front office converted Taylor’s contract to a guaranteed deal for the upcoming season, per Tony East of Forbes. The Austin Peay all time leading scorer is now scheduled to be paid a guaranteed amount of $1.56 million in 2022.
Taylor split playing time last year with the Pacers and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, which is the organization’s G-League affiliate. He played his role effectively for each team when called upon. For the Pacers, he provided a spark off the bench as a role player in 33 games. As for his time with the Mad Ants, he was a certified star in the 14 games he started in the G-League.
Taylor took advantage of every opportunity he had on the court while recalled by Indiana. He averaged 9.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and shot an efficient .614 from the field. Meanwhile, when Taylor played in Fort Wayne, he averaged 18.9 points per game, 12.1 rebounds per game and shot .674 from the field.
